What are the IELTS scoring criteria?
IELTS Writing is scored on 4 criteria: 1) Task Achievement, 2) Coherence and Cohesion, 3) Lexical Resource, 4) Grammatical Range and Accuracy. Each is scored 0-9.
What payment methods are available?
Credit and debit card payments are supported via the Paddle payment system.
How do I sign up?
You can sign up with email or Google social login. You'll receive 6 free credits (3 essay scorings) upon registration.
What is Puanai?

What are the support hours?

How accurate is the scoring?
Puanai's AI scoring is trained on real IELTS examiner criteria for high accuracy. Use it as a reference and verify with official exams.
Can I get a refund for credits?
Unused credits are refundable within 14 days of purchase. However, your right of withdrawal expires upon first use of any credit, in accordance with EU consumer rights law. Payments are processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Contact support to request a refund.

How do I use credits?
Each essay scoring costs 2 credits. Purchase a credit pack and submit essays for scoring. Credits never expire.
How accurate is the AI scoring exactly?
Based on internal validation, over 85% of cases fall within ±0.5 bands of actual IELTS scores. It is optimized as an exam preparation and self-assessment tool.
What credit packages are available?
3 packages: Starter (6 credits/3 essays), Standard (20 credits/10 essays), Intensive (50 credits/25 essays). More credits = more savings.
Is AI scoring really reliable?
Yes. Puanai's AI is trained on real IELTS examiner criteria and delivers high accuracy within ±0.5 bands. Ongoing training ensures continuous improvement.
How long do credits last?
No, Puanai credits never expire. Purchased credits remain valid as long as your account is active.
What happens after the free trial ends?
Once you've used all free trial credits, you'll need to purchase a credit package to continue scoring. Previous results remain accessible anytime.
What do TR, CC, LR, and GRA mean?
These are abbreviations for the 4 IELTS Writing scoring criteria: TR (Task Response), CC (Coherence & Cohesion), LR (Lexical Resource), GRA (Grammatical Range & Accuracy).
Which IELTS skills does PuanAI support?
Currently supports IELTS Writing Task 1 (Academic and General Training) and Task 2. Reading, Listening, and Speaking will be added in future updates.
Can I use my own essay topic?
Yes, you can use any essay topic — real exam prompts or practice ones. Submit your topic along with the essay and it will be scored accordingly.
How many essays can I submit with a free trial?
The 6 free credits given upon registration allow you to score 3 essays for free. (1 essay = 2 credits)
Can I still use PuanAI after the 2026 IELTS computer-based transition?
Yes — in fact, it's an even better fit. PuanAI is designed as a typing-based platform, so it mirrors the fully computer-based IELTS format rolling out from mid-2026.
What language is the feedback provided in?
Currently, English (EN) and Korean (KO) are supported. You can change the language in settings or select your preferred language when submitting.
Does PuanAI help prepare for the IELTS Writing One Skill Retake?
Yes. The Writing One Skill Retake uses the same scoring criteria (TR/CC/LR/GRA). PuanAI's criterion-level feedback helps you identify weak areas and train intensively, making it highly effective for improving your retake score.
How quickly will I get my results?
You'll typically receive your results within 30 seconds. Depending on server traffic, it may vary slightly, but most results are delivered near-instantly.
How do I use the timer / exam mode?
When you start writing, a timer automatically begins — 20 minutes for Task 1 and 40 minutes for Task 2. This lets you practise under the same time constraints as the real IELTS exam.
